Classic, colorful, showy, deceptive, hard to shoot, old-time tourmaline with lepidolite from the famous Cruzeiro Mine. The sculptural, pristine, 360-degree cluster of intergrown bi-colored tourmaline crystals is richly covered with tiny, glassy, translucent lavender lepidolite crystals. The lustrous, glassy, well-striated trigonal prisms are dramatically accented with odd bits of rich pink color. The crystals are transparent to translucent, with the gem teal-green zone below the matte termination being a highlight. Backlighting shows that most of the primary crystal is in fact a watermelon, with teal-green surrounding the pink interior. Classic old-time combination material from the Rolando Gioia Collection, dating from the 1950s to 1970s. 49 grams mass.
