Item Description

Juicy, waxy luster, vivid pink and lavender bubby smithsonite botryoids fill both striking segmented vugs on this dramatically sculptural large bi-colored specimen from the closed El Refugio Mine at Choix, Mexico. This is classic, old 1960s or 1970s vintage material from this essentially mined out locale, that was documented in a 2011 Mineralogical Record Mexico-VI Special Issue, Vol. 42, No. 5. Many of us consider them much more beautiful than botryoidal smithsonite from nearly all other localities. The lavender and pink colors are highly desirable, among the many colors produced. Ex Tom Hales Collection and Dr. Peter Megaw, well-known Mexico specialist and author. Peter valued this fantastically sculptural, bi-colored beauty at $2500. The sculptural quality of this piece is way above average for the locale.
