Rich lavender grading into vivid pink, juicy, waxy luster bubbly smithsonite botryoids cover this beautiful, rich and sculptural small cabinet from the closed El Refugio Mine at Choix. The form of the undulating crust and the color placement enhances the piece. This is classic, old 1960s or 1970s vintage material from this essentially mined out locale, that was documented in a 2011 Mineralogical Record Mexico-VI Special Issue, Vol. 42, No. 5. Many of us consider them much more beautiful than botryoidal smithsonite from nearly all other localities. The lavender color is highly desirable, among the many colors produced.
