Item Description

Classic bi-colored pyromorphite prisms are dramatically and aesthetically set on the sculptural, lightweight and sturdy, boxwork gossan matrix. The lustrous prisms, to 1.5 cm, have highly desirable forest-green bodies with juicy, hoppered apple-green terminations. All of the major crystals are pristine and the few noted broken smaller crystals are certainly a modest detraction to this very fine and showy example from the famed Les Farges Mine, active from 1975 to only 1981. Les Farges is one of the world's great pyromorphite localites, noted for the outstanding diversity of styles and colors and this is a good one from the Howard Belsky Collection. The December, 2009 issue of the French periodical, le Regne Mineral, is devoted entirely to this noted locale and is filled with photgraphs of fabulous Les Farges pyromorphites. Valued at $800-1000.
