Item Description

The famous Les Farges Mine, active from only 1975 to 1981, is one of the world's great pyromorphite localites, noted for the outstanding diversity of styles and colors. This sculptural and aesthetic miniature is one of the prized examples. Stacked, lustrous, olive-green, parallel-growth crystals form striking larger hoppered crystals and have the highly desirable mustard-yellow terminations. One side is nearly pristine, with only one gently bruised crystal, while the other side has some broken crystals in the mid-section. The impressive large crystal at the crest is 1.7 x 1.4 cm. Classic pyromorphite from the Howard Belsky Collection. The December, 2009 issue of the French periodical, le Regne Mineral, is devoted entirely to this noted locale and is filled with photgraphs of fabulous Les Farges pyromorphites.
