Item Description
"Hot pink" tourmalines are a Stewart Mine classic, but this pegmatite has also produced very fine bi-colored tourmalines, such as this excellent example with a blue-purple tip. The 4.3 cm, highly lustrous, well-striated, trigonal crystal is dramatically set in rosettes of bladed cleavelandite and another tourmaline. Most of the crystal is opaque black schorl with the upper 8 mm having all of the GEMMINESS and COLOR. A narrow, 2 mm, hard-to-see, translucent green zone is followed by the 3 mm, beautiful, gem, indicolite-blue section. The 2 mm pretty purple zone underlies the frosted, matte termination. The tourmaline is complete all-around and nearly pristine, with only one small termination edge bruise. This is old-time, classic, 360-degree combination material from this renowned locale from the 1960s or 70s. Ex Art Soregaroli Collection. Valued $1500-1750 for quality and combination.
