Item Description

Francolite is an uncommon variety of carbonate-rich fluorapatite. This is a very uncommon example of bi-colored francolite from a totally obscure locality in the Northern Cape Province. Translucent, bubbly, olive-green francolite botryoids have a secondary white francolite coating or a gray iron oxide coating. The botryoids rest on the banded rind of yellow-green to white to gray francolite. Probably old-time material, but no proof. Ex Bob Triminghamn Collection from the David Harrison Collection. Correct information on this small sinkhole deposit was thankfully supplied by Dr. Duncan Miller of South Africa. A must for the locality or species collector.
