Bi-colored Fluorite with Calcite

Item Description

Sculptural and unusual large mounded plate of intergrown, bi-colored fluorite cuboctahedrons nicely accented with clusters of small flattened, translucent, calcite disks from the famed Yaogangxian Mine. The striking fluorites are mostly water-clear, gem, sea-green, with some bi-colored, translucent, light sea-green sections. The impressive large crystal at the top is 3.9 cm across. Most of the prism faces are glass-clear, gem and are dramatically accented with dense, stepped-growth modified edges and corners. Rich purple LW UV fluorite fluorescence and bright pink LW UV calcite fluorescence. See the 2011 Mineralogical Record article in China-III Special Issue, Vol. 42, No. 6. An older specimen, really quite unique in combination aesthetics, fluorite crystal color and style, probably from the early 2000s. The fluorites are bluer in person, as the glassiness, gemminess, and luster made photography difficult.
