Item Description

RARE, rich and impresssive large fluorite from the obscure Hollywell Mine. This is an old level in the famous Rogerley Quarry at Frosterley that worked the Hollywell Vein. The renowned Rogerley Mine and the new Diana Maria Mine are both in the Rogerley Quarry. Lustrous, translucent purple cubes with frosted off-white areas are very aesthetically clustered on the sculptural mounded piece. The dramatically set large central cube is 3.4 x 3.3 x 2.8 cm. The snow-white drusy quartz on some of the cubes is a striking accessory and contrast. All of the fluorites in the interior are pristine. Purple fluorescence. Ex Dr. Steven Moreton Collection and acquired in 2009. It is illusrated in the MINDAT Photo Gallery for the locale with a September, 2018 photo by Dr. Moreton.
