Item Description
Mineral specimens are rare from this less well-known German fluorite mine, that was worked from 1928 to 1963 (MINDAT). The sculptural, layered fluorite plate is covered with glassy, transparent to translucent pastel-green cubes, to 1.4 cm, with very pretty preferential iron oxide tinting. Both sides fluoresce purple. The front, less so, due to the iron oxides. Ex Kay Robertson Collection # 4755 and acquired from Al McGuinness in the mid 1960s. Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record and the 50+ page article in the German Magazine "Mineralien Welt" November-December 2017). A choice, rich and rare fluorite from this locale.
