Item Description

Colorful and fascinating large plate of bi-colored fluorite and quartz points from this abandoned Soviet-era military-run tungsten-molybdenum deposit. The distinctive translucent octahedrons, to 2.3 cm, have pretty mint-green bodies and striking purple terminations and purple inclusions in the frosted prism faces. Purple fluorescence. The mine closed in 1996. A former Fersman Musuem Moscow specimen. Ex Chet Lemanski Collection and acquired in 1989, when Soviet specimens were just starting to reach Western markets. A very fine large combination from the locale. Rare old material today!
