Item Description

A dramatic and aesthetic large fluorite and sphalerite combination piece from the famous Elmwood Mine. A classic 4.4 x 4.2 x 4.0 cm fluorite cube with darker purple edge phantoms around a light purple to white core has scintillating, stepped-growth faces. The cube jauntily rests atop spendent rubyjack sphalerite crystals with some translucent, yellow-red edges. Overall, the piece is in excellent shape, with only one lightly cleaved corner to the fluorite and the contacting on the back is mostly out-of-sight. It is a fine display specimen that has long been in the mineral collection of John Culberson, one of our current Texas Congressmen in the US House of Representatives for the Houston area. He has specialized in Elmwood minerals for several decades.
