Item Description

Glassy, transparent to translucent, gray-blue fluorite cubes with richer blue edge phantoms and scattered amber cores make for a showy old-timer from this famous locale. The large crystal at the top is 5.3 cm across and the intense stepped-growth of the crystals adds character. The noted periphery wear has minimal impact to the quality of this fine piece. The Bob Trimingham label says "Mahoning Mine", dating the piece to the 1940s to 60s, prior to the merger of the Ozark and Mahoning companies and calling the mine Minerva No. 1. He acquired the piece in 1968 from Vescovi's Minerals. Bright purple fluorescence.
