Item Description

A showy and excellent bi-colored small cabinet fluorite from this old well-known lead mine in the famous Weardale area. The striking large dominating translucent cube is mostly a variable rich purple with typical interior white to oxide-yellow patches and nicely accented by gemmy corners and edges with faint phantoms. The satin lustre frosted faces add character. The crystals grade to translucent greenish-yellow on the back. Bright fluorescence. Ex Chet Lemanski Collection and acquired in 2000. Minor damage but still a classic old fluorite from the locale and an excellent example for the fluorescent collector. These are called day glo fluorites, as they even fluoresce in sunlight!
