Bi-colored Elbaite (old classic)

Item Description

A classic, old-style large elbaite crystal from the famous Cruzeiro Mine. The impressive parallel-growth, trigonal crystal has a beautiful, gemmy to translucent, iridescent olive-green body with black, schorl terminations. Both striking terminations are etched and have embedded small tourmaline crystals. One prism face near the termination is peppered with tiny, gemmy, olive-green elbaites. The base is partially hollow. Complete all around and essentially pristine. One side has two contacts, where other crystals once lay, but there is no damage, per se. Fine crystals of this size, style and quality came out in the 1960s or 70s. 96 grams mass. Valued at $2000.
