Item Description

A beautifully elegant combination specimen from the most famous tourmaline locality in Pakistan. Five gemmy and lustrous, bi-colored tourmalines are dramatically and aesthetically accented with pearlescent, bladed cleavelandite crystals. The four large crystals are doubly terminated and nearly pristine, with only a small ding at the base of the largest crystal (5.4 cm). The small fifth crystal is hidden near the base of the largest tourmaline behind a cleavelandite blade. Three of the tourmalines have glassy, soft baby-pink, pyramidal terminations and light bottle-green zones with the inverted fourth on the end having a strikingly different, thin pink zone and a frosted, pinacoidal termination. This smaller crystal has gemmy teal-blue and bottle-green zones above the very dark green mid-section with a faint pink pinacoidal lower termination. The three larger crystals have larger, dark green mid-sections and variable gemmy bottle-green basal pinacoidal terminations with frosted faces. The well-striated prism faces are highly lustrous, which is NOT common for these crystals. The gemminess is excellent and the sharp color zoning is outstanding. This is a superb display piece and a wonderful pegmatite specimen from a classic locality. These pieces are becomingly increasingly difficult to find in today's market, especially in this quality. This super small cabinet dates to the 1980s finds and is superb. Valued $2000-2250.
