Item Description

Sri Lanka sapphires set the standard for form and quality of the species and this is an excellent larger example. This gemmy doubly terminated crystal has a variable violet body with nifty goldenrod-yellow and violet tips. The typically layered, flattened, hexagonal crystal has lightly frosted faces. The striking and rare swallowtail termination is very noteworthy. Interestingly, the crystal is slightly kinked. One edge has a bit of chipping, but is out-of-sight. 92.05 carats. Valued at $2500. Not too many of this size and quality on the market these days. They are all heated, cut, and sold to the crazy Chinese market that is buying up as much as they can.
