Amethyst specimens of this quality and richness are RARE from this obscure Inyo County smoky quartz and amethyst locality from a 1988 find. Glassy, translucent, pretty bi-colored points with satin lustre faces are dramatically clustered on this very artistic large specimen. The striking stacked crystals with stepped-growth prism faces reach 3.7 cm and several crystals on the bottom are doubly terminated, adding character. All of the many crystals in the interior are pristine. The rare amethyst crystals rest on a sawed massive quartz matrix. Ex Bob Reynolds Collection. Bob is a well-known fossil and mineral expert and Curator of the San Bernardino County Museum. An outstanding and rare large Inyo County amethyst. A MUST for the species or locality collector.
