Item Description

Beudantite is uncommnon secondary lead arsenate found in the oxidation zone of polymetallic deposits. It shows a large variety of different habits (tabular, acute rhombohedral, pseudo-cubic, pseudo-cuboctahedral). This very rare, old-time thumbnail is from Cornwall and features what looks to be glassy, pseudo-cuboctahedral crystals on quartz matrix. The specimen is probably from Wheal Carpenter, a small old historic mine, that produced intermittently from 1792-1855. Ex Howard Belsky Collection.
