Item Description

Betekhtinite is a rare lead, copper, iron sulfosalt. Lightly iridescent, parallel-growth clusters of betekhtinite lathes to 1.4 cm along with isolated (to 4 mm) and intergrown globules of lightly iridescent bornite are aesthetically scattered on the wedge-shaped matrix of sandstone. Sandstone is an uncommon matrix for Dzhezkazgan Mine specimens and this is a very rich and excellent example of the combinatinon species from this noted locality. Ex Robert Whitmore Collection. His label lists Russia as the locality (an error from the early days of export in the early 1990s).
