Item Description

Betafite is a variety of the Pyrochlore Supergroup. This is from one of the most important and classic localities for the species, the Silver Crater Mine in Ontario, Canada. For a single, this crystal is huge, and it is super-sharp with a uniform and pleasant reddish-brown color. Complete-all-around, this textbook crystal has but one small contact near the bottom. Likely an old-time specimen, it is out of the famous collection of the author Frederick Pough, Ph.D., giving it a great provenance! Originally priced at $400.
