Item Description
Good crystallized Beryllonites are rare from Brazil, and the pieces from the Telirio claim are arguably the best from any locality not only in Brazil, but anywhere in South America. This is a fine quality, rare and showy toenail / large thumbnail from this pegmatite, known for its outstanding Brazilianite specimens. This GEM quality, colorless, Beryllonite shows contact twinning, and almost reminds me of a thick reticulated Cerussite, though when you pick it up, it doesn't have nearly the heft of a piece of Cerussite. It's nearly complete all the way around, and there is only one ding that keeps it from being pristine, but it's right on the top of the piece. Very attractive and hard to find from Brazil. Valued at $900, but it would be a few thousand if it was completely undamaged. Choice and rare material from the collection of Rolando Gioia (a contributor to new definitive book on Brazilian minerals: "Minerais e Pedras Preciosas do Brasil").
