Item Description
Beryllonite is a very rare phosphate, and until the find was made in Afghanistan in the mid 200s, the only known cut gems were from Maine. This stone is especially interesting because it's a hard to find and fine quality rare gem that would make a great addition to any rare stone collection. Typically the Beryllonite crystals from Afghanistan have many small "tube like" inclusions and when they are properly polished and correctly oriented, they create the highly desirable "cat's eye " effect, as seen in this "Oval Cabochon" cut stone. We've photographed this gem with a focused penlight to help show off the "eye" better, and this is one of the largest stones of this material that we've ever had to offer. These gems are not common by any means, and virtually nothing is coming out these days. I expect the price will only increase in the years to come as these are clearly the finest "cat's eye" Beryllonites in the world. Priced at $1,226.25 high retail.
