Item Description
Gorgeous, sea-green, beryl crystals of this amazing qualtiy are very rare from the famous Teofilo Otoni area of Brazil. Specimens like this came out in the 1960s or early 1970s, with none since. Most went to europe, germany in particular, and were cut for the gem trade as this was before aqua could be had from Pakistan in more quantity. This super gem is beautifully accented by cleavelandite rossettes on one side. The upper two-thirds of the crystal is cutter quality. The striking, etched/frosted, side faces are fabulously complimented by the complex, pyramidal termination. Very nearly pristine, the very trivial termination edgewear is noted, but is certainly not a detraction. It is a well-balanced, fabulous display specimen that frankly is among the best things we have put up for auction over the years. Overal lit is a Classic, highly desirable and very seldom available material from this noted locale. Valued at $3000. Try to find another like it!! It will be hard to do. Now, a lot of modern collectors may be happy with the more common modern Brazil and Pakistani material, but this unique seafoam green color and style, really stands the test of time and has proven to be rarer than other forms of aquamarine over the years.
