Item Description

Here we have a beautiful etched crystal of Goshenite, the varietal name given to colorless gem quality Beryl crystals. The name Goshenite is given from the town of Goshen, Massachusetts, where the first colorless Beryl crystals were reported. This piece is a rather gemmy, highly etched, colorless crystal with no matrix. The piece has an almost "ice"-like quality, with beautiful features from the etching, but it still has two fairly well-formed hexagonal prism faces on the exterior. It's hard to find crystals of Goshenite from Brazil these days, so if you collect Beryls, pegmatite crystals, gem crystals or minerals of Brazil, this is a good example to add to your collection. Specimen weight is 27.2 grams. The piece dates back to the 1970s era of mining.
