Item Description

A rarely seen colorless Beryl (var: Goshenite) from the famous Tourmaline King Mine in Pala. This piece features a cluster of sharp, well-formed, prismatic, hexagonal crystals with decent internal gemminess, with minor attached Albite and no matrix. Believe it or not, the piece is actually doubly-terminated, as there are a few tiny basal pinacoid faces on the tapered underside of the specimen. Honestly, I can't find any real point of attachment, and I think this piece could truly be a complete "floater". A really interesting and hard to find specimen from this prestigious locality. From the collection of Bill Larson of Fallbrook, California. Bill is a well-known gem and mineral dealer as well as a miner and collector. Bill is synonymous with minerals of San Diego County, and owned and operated famous mines such as the Stewart Lithia, the Tourmaline Queen, the Pala Chief and the Himalaya, producing some of the most iconic mineral specimens to come out of the area during the 1970s-1980s.
