Item Description

Good quality Emerald specimens are rare from Pakistan. Fine, well-formed crystals on matrix are quite difficult to find, as most of them can be somewhat crude and often don't show good faces. The Swat Valley has been producing Emeralds since the late 1950s (mindat.org), but specimens are still quite few and far between on the market. We only see a select few of them every year if we're lucky. This piece is an exceptional miniature hosting a textbook, very sharp, euhedral, hexagonal prism measuring 1.2 cm, aesthetically flaring off matrix. The crystal not only has rich green color, but it's actually GEMMY when backlit and glows with color. Amazingly, the crystal is in superb condition, with no major damage, and I can only seen a tiny bit of roughness when I look closely with loupe. It's one of the best pieces we've ever had to offer from the locality, and it's a showy and aesthetic display piece to boot. Not just good for Pakistan, this is a really good Emerald, regardless of the locality.
