Item Description
A classic thumbnail specimen of these historic and well-known Emeralds from Malyshevo. The crystal has a re-crystallized, or possibly a contact termination where it grew against the pocket wall. The color is a good saturated chrome green hue, and the piece shows moderate gemminess when backlit. Overall it's a nice representative specimen of these historic Emeralds that date back to the early 1800s. According to GIA, Malyshevo "was the world's largest emerald producer at the start of World War I."
From the collection of Bill ("Burma Bill") Larson of Fallbrook, California. Bill is a well-known gem and mineral dealer (Pala International) as well as a miner and collector. Bill traveled the world for decades in search of fine gems and minerals, and was directly involved in the in-person acquisition and importation of superb specimens from many important gem-producing localities.
