Item Description
Per MINDAT, Carnaiba may contain the most extensive Emerald deposit in the world. At 6 cm and a 173 grams, this significantly-sized rough, representative crystal ranges from opaque to translucent. No gem, but a nice reference chunk of emerald. While these crystals certainly are not as gemmy as good Colombian ones, note that this is an old Brazilian emerald specimen - far rarer and highly representative of the species and locality. Previously in the Eugene Carmichael collection. ex George Elling Collection.
