Beryl var: Aquamarine with Schorl

Aquamarine is probably the most abundant variety of Beryl on the market today. Pakistan has for a few decades been the source of some of the greatest Aquamarine crystals ever found. The crystals from the Shigar Valley are renowned for their excellent crystal form and gem clarity. This piece is a showy cabinet sized specimen comprising a single hexagonal prism of glowing sky blue Aquamarine with very sharp, highly lustrous, incredibly well-formed prism faces (I can actually see some thin second order prism faces in spots which have more of a matte luster), associated and partially included with starkly contrasting jet black little crystals of Schorl Tourmaline. The termination is undamaged, and the rest of the crystal is in fine condition, save the lower portion where there is a separation mark from a previous Beryl crystal that was attached at some point long before the piece was collected out of the ground. The bottom of the crystal is crudely re-crystallized ("re-healed") so technically you could say the piece is doubly-terminated. The crystal is incredibly gemmy, virtually water-clear in portions and looks great in any kind of light. A beautiful unique Beryl crystal from this famous Aquamarine-producing area.
