Beryl (var: Aquamarine) with Muscovite on Albite

There are many prolific pegmatite localities in the high mountains of Pakistan. These pegmatites are world-famous for producing what are inarguably among the finest examples of Aquamarine in the world, and certainly the finest matrix specimens. The production over the last 30+ years has been quite impressive, especially considering that several pieces found within the last few years are among the best matrix Aquamarine specimens in the world. Most people associate Pakistani Aquas with the Shigar Valley, but nearby in Nagar, some really gorgeous pieces have been found for many years. This attractive and showy small cabinet piece features many glassy, sharp, gemmy, soft blue color, hexagonal crystals of Aquamarine measuring up to 3.7 cm, which are associated with beautiful bladed groups of silvery Muscovite sitting on off-white colored Albite matrix. Several of the Aquamarine crystals are virtually WATER-CLEAR. The back of the piece might look damaged/contacted where it detached from the pocket wall, but it's actually recrystallized ("re-healed"), so it's nearly crystallized all over. A good quality, showy display specimen of this classic material from Chumar Bakhoor. Priced in the inventory at $1,950.
