Beryl var: Aquamarine with Muscovite

Aquamarine is a very popular variety of Beryl, and for good reason, since there are many localities in the world today that produce excellent crystals. I think it's safe to say that Pakistan is the most productive country for specimens in the last 20-30 years. It goes without saying that some of the very finest quality Aquamarine specimens come from the various pegmatites in the Pakistani mountains, including the pieces from the famous Nagar region. This piece hosts a predominant, sharp, rather gemmy, lustrous, prismatic hexagonal Aquamarine crystal with a few additional Aqua crystals, plus minor associated bladed silvery Muscovite. The glassy, limpid to translucent crystals are beautiful light blue color and look great in sunlight and indoor lighting. The piece is partially re-crystallized ("re-healed") on the back, but it's not a complete "floater", as there are slight points of attachment that can be seen. A wonderful and showy example of these classic Aquas from this famous locality. Valued $2,000.
