This strange cluster of aquamarines is more and more interesting when you think about how it has three different terminations on three crystals, and yet they are not only touching one another but seemingly grew in parallel at the same time. What could cause that? Nicknamed "the three towers" for this unusual quality, you can really see the differences as you look. You would think each parallel crystal should develop an identical termination in the same environment of growth, yet they did not. The central crystal is 6 cm, and this cluster is perfect, pristine, complete all around. Both a visual treat and an intellectual talking piece, which is why it long stayed in this important collection (Gene Meieran amassed possibly the world's largest collection of fine aquamarines, hundreds of specimens from many localities, in all shapes and sizes).
