Item Description
A rarely seen multi-crystal Aquamarine specimen from the historic Fano Mine in Southern California. Typically, we only see single crystals from this locality, but this is an attractive group featuring a predominant, sharp, lustrous, gemmy, hexagonal crystal of a light blue color, which plays hosts to several smaller thin prisms of Aquamarine near the center of the specimen. The main crystal is actually doubly-terminated, as one end is re-crystallized ("re-healed"). There are a few spots of damage, but overall the piece is in fairly good condition. If you collect pegmatite minerals, Beryls or specimens from Southern California pegmatites, don't miss out on this hard to find piece from this locality that dates back to the early 1900s. From the collection of Robert (Bob) Reynolds. Bob was a well-known fossil and mineral expert and former Curator of Earth Sciences at the San Bernardino County Museum in California. The rare phyllomanganate-chromate species Reynoldsite was named in his honor in 2011.
