Beryl var. Aquamarine on Muscovite

This unusual specimen exhibits a "barrel-shaped beryl" specimen, with an extension coming out of the top. It looks like nothing so much as a beer keg with a faucet! The crystal is a classic textbook shape, again like a barrel, with a secondary growth coming out of the dead center. It has mild pastel blue color, and stunning luster, like glass. The crystal is complete all around and nicely placed on matrix of the host rock, accented by small crystals of silvery mica. This is both typical and unusual at the same time, for a Nagar aquamarine. They usually form simple hexagonal growths without such an outgrowing crystal - and it is the accent that makes this a special piece.
