Item Description

This is certainly the most unique and eye-catching Aquamarine I've ever seen from the Itatiaia Mine, which might be best-known for its beautiful Rubellite Tourmaline crystals. I have seen several etched Aquamarine crystals from this locality, but this particular specimen is singular in its appearance, as it's not only tapered, but it's also hollow in the center (from hydrothermal etching), causing it to resemble an ice cream cone! It's not only unique for Brazil, but I can't remember seeing another like it from anywhere. The color ranges from light to medium blue, and despite the etching, the surface is still rather lustrous, showing stepped/geometric faces all over. If you collect Beryls, gem crystals, or simply unique specimens, this is something that you are not likely to see again, so don't miss out. Valued $2,000.
From the collection of Bill ("Burma Bill") Larson of Fallbrook, California. Bill is a well-known gem and mineral dealer (Pala International) as well as a miner and collector. Bill traveled the world for decades in search of fine gems and minerals, and was directly involved in the in-person acquisition and importation of superb specimens from many important gem-producing localities.
