Beryl var: Aquamarine (GEMMY crystal with helix growth)

Pakistan has for decades been the source of some of the greatest Aquamarine crystals ever found. The crystals from the Shigar Valley are renowned for their excellent crystal form and gem clarity. This piece is a showy toenail sized specimen comprising a single hexagonal prism of light blue Aquamarine with very sharp, highly lustrous, incredibly well-formed prism faces which are starkly contrasted by the beautiful unique etched terminations on both ends. The piece is essentially a complete "floater" as it's totally crystallized all over, with no damage or point of attachment I can find. The crystal is incredibly gemmy, virtually water-clear in the center, and perhaps the most intriguing aspect is that it features a thin wispy "helix" growth lines that spirals around the perimeter of the crystal. A beautiful unique Beryl crystal from this famous Aquamarine-producing area. Specimen weight is 6.87 grams.
