Item Description
There are several world-class localities for gem quality Aquamarine in Pakistan, but I feel like Nyet doesn't get enough attention for some of the stellar examples it has produced over the years. A lot of crystals simply are labeled as coming from the Shigar Valley, which is perfectly fine, as there are countless little discoveries that have been made which never get named, but the pieces that are specifically found at Nyet are often a higher caliber than their counterparts from other places around Shigar. This piece is a magnificent GEM PENCIL with optic clarity, a very light blue color and razor sharp prism faces which grade into a tapered pyramidal termination with a soft matte luster, highlighted by a tiny group of cream colored Albite on the very top. No damage that I can see, and just beautiful for both its condition and visual appeal. Specimen weight is 7.3 grams. Valued $3,000 for superior quality.
From the collection of Bill ("Burma Bill") Larson of Fallbrook, California. Bill is a well-known gem and mineral dealer (Pala International) as well as a miner and collector. Bill traveled the world for decades in search of fine gems and minerals, and was directly involved in the in-person acquisition and importation of superb specimens from many important gem-producing localities.
