Beryl var: Aquamarine (GEM crystal with 2nd and 3rd order prism faces) with Albite

Aquamarine specimens from Pakistan have been on the market for a few decades at this point, but they still remain among the finest examples of this blue variety of Beryl in the world. Without question, some of the largest and finest Aqua crystals ever found have come from the famed Shigar Valley. This piece is a showy and fine quality display specimen, with a rare habit/morphology, This incredibly gemmy (virtually water-clear in the upper portion), sharp, lustrous prismatic hexagonal crystal not only shows 1st order prism faces, but has the added bonus of 2nd AND 3rd order faces as well! It's rare enough to find a 12-sided Beryl crystal, but this one has 18 at least, but it's hard to count them all as there are thin or partial faces around the perimeter that might not be actual faces, just a distortion of a face. Not only are the additional prism faces, but I can see tiny 1st and 2nd order pyramidal faces along the edge of the termination, so this is a complex and arguably unique(?) crystal as this exact morphology would be rather difficult to find again in another Aqua, from Pakistan or anywhere. With that said, this is a rare habit for Beryl, regardless of the locality, and it's just a great touch to this already high quality crystal. A bit of off-white colored Albite at the base makes for a good accent. A choice specimen, and a fantastic piece to add to any gem crystal suite, a collection of Beryls or minerals of Pakistan.
