Item Description
Here we have a cool old time Aquamarine from an unknown locality (possibly the Strickland Quarry) in Middlesex County, Connecticut. These East Coast classics date back to the 1840's and are among the more noteworthy Beryls from New England. This piece is an attractive blue color Aquamarine crystal with sharp prism faces, good form and slight translucency when backlit. Some minor Quartz is attached to the base of the crystal. Both ends of the crystal are contacted, but this is often the case with these crystals. A cool old specimen for any collector of pegmatite minerals, gem crystals or minerals from New England. From the collection of Allen Heyl, a geologist from Colorado, and the namesake for the phosphate Aheylite. Specimen weight is 84.09 grams.
