When it comes to crystallized examples of Aquamarine, Pakistan is the most productive country for specimens. These pieces are remarkably impressive in terms of their crystallization, color, quality and gemminess. In the modern age of mineral collecting, it can be said that some of the very finest quality Aquamarine specimens ever found have come from the various pegmatites in the high mountains of Pakistan. The Shigar Valley is probably the epicenter of this activity, which is where this piece hails from. This specimen is a superb, very sharp , highly lustrous, doubly-terminated GEM quality beautiful blue color prismatic crystal of Aquamarine, free of matrix. One end has a smooth flat basal termination, while the other end has been re-crystallized ("re-healed") at some point after it was detached from the pocket wall. One end of the crystal is WATER CLEAR and looks beautiful when held in the hand. The piece is in great shape overall, with no damage that I can see with the naked eye.
