Beryl var: Aquamarine (''cast'' after Quartz)

A beautiful small cabinet display specimen that is not your typical Aquamarine from Erongo. The piece is filled with excellent, strong blue colored, hexagonal prisms measuring up to 2.6 cm, with good luster and sharpness, but what really separates this piece from others is that it has formed a "cast" (epimorph/perimorph) after a preexisting crystal of Quartz. The back of the piece still has a bit of Smoky Quartz remaining, but you can clearly see an imprint of the hexagonal shape of the original Quartz crystal. The piece is crystallized all over, and it's nearly a complete "floater", but I can see some minor imperfections around the periphery, so it's not 100% complete. It's unique, and different and really good quality, so if you collect Beryls, pegmatite minerals, or you're a fan of "casts", don't miss out on this one. The former dealer label valued the piece at $1,800, but I honestly think it should be more (± $2,500-$3,000) for the wonderful color and RARE ''cast'' formation.
