Beryl var. Aquamarine and Heliodor

Here is a pair of stout, sharp and attractive Aquamarine crystals that sport unique Heliodor caps on this aesthetic small cabinet piece from the Erongo Mountains of Namibia. Some people called them "Aquador" when they came out in the early 2000s! These unique Aquamarine/Heliodor crystals were from a limited find over a decade ago from pegmatites in the Erongo Region and have not been duplicated since. Color varied considerably but this would be among the most saturated colors for each species, much more dramatic in combination that most of what came out. A good three-quarters of each hexagonal crystal column consists of translucent medium blue Aquamarine displaying natural, longitudinal, internal crazing that results in almost a schiller effect that catches and reflects light internally, especially at the exterior of the crystal faces. The Aquamarine portion is capped by an 8 mm thick, saturated green-yellow, translucent to transparent at the flat pinacoid termination that really sets these crystals off! A beautiful duo of these uncommon zoned crystals from the Erika Pohl collection. This piece went from Charlie Key to Marshall Sussman to us, in the early 2000s, and then to Star Van Scriver, who sold it to Erika Pohl (so we really do have a familiarity with the pocket).
