Item Description

A tower of over a dozen aquamarine crystals joined together, rises from a common core. Even in a collection with literally 200-plus examples of Shigar aquamarines, this one is a bit of an oddity. Firstly, it has a satiny luster, and visually seems "different" right from the first because the surface is different in texture from the normal glassy aquamarine. It makes it look soft, almost...though of course it is not. It is difficult to explain, really, and the effect is not "bad" even though it is definitely not super-lustrous as a result. The tops of each crystal are glassy, lustrous, and transparent so you can look down within the frosted crystals. The color is a fine pastel blue. The piece is terminated on all crystals, and complete all around 360 degrees. Also, it is complete on the bottom, making it a total floater with no contact point. Small crystals of white cleavelandite are attached here and there, and they are such a pure white, and also satiny in luster, that it is almost hard to focus on them. All that berig said, this is a seemingly unremarkable aquamarine cluster in any dramatic way, but it is the subtleties that set it apart.
