Item Description
With splayed crystals to 5 cm ending in broad, bevelled terminations, this glassy aquamarine specimen is very dramatic for its size. The luster is super, and glassy, all around. The piece is nearly pristine (a few trivial dings on backside) and completely crystallized all around, as well. Most of these Nagar aquas tend to have a "dull side" with less luster or form, but not this specimen, which displays well from any angle. The geometry of the piece, with crystals flaring from the center to the left and right, adds pizzazz. This would have come out in the late 1980s and was in the collection of Joel Bartsch, now curator and president of the Houston Museum of Natural Science. It was then in the Dave Stoudt collection until recently. While there are many Nagar aquas on the market still today, this is, to my eye, a special piece. Valued $2500-3000
