Item Description
Well-formed beryl crystals are uncommon and seldom available from the various pegmatites at this famous locality, which served early American mineralogists trying to understand how these things form. Today, old Groton pieces are classics, found in museum collections. This Aquamarine has one, textured rough termination (where it grew against a quartz vein) topped with massive Quartz, atop. Aside from the pleasing blue color, what makes this crystal extraordinary is that it has 18 prism faces, exhibiting the secondary & tertiary prisms of beryl crystallization. Although not the most beautiful aqua you have ever seen, this is a Remarkable study specimen for the crystallography! Formerly in the George M. White collection, Colorado Springs, CO.
