Item Description

The multiple pegmatite localities that exist in the high mountains of Pakistan are world-famous for producing what are inarguably among the finest examples of Aquamarine in the world. The impressive amount of pieces that have come out over the last 30+ years has been amazing, and some of the pieces found within the last few years are among the best matrix Aquamarine specimens in the world. Most people associate Pakistani Aquas with the Shigar Valley, but nearby in Nagar, some really gorgeous pieces have been found for many years. This attractive piece is a rather lustrous, sharp, gemmy, soft blue color, hexagonal crystal of Aquamarine, free of matrix. The crystal has a classic basal termination with a few small accenting pyramidal modifications. No major damage anywhere outside of the base of the piece, where it detached from the pocket wall. A good quality, showy display specimen of this classic material from Chumar Bakhoor. Specimen weight is 26.9 grams.
