Item Description
Aquamarine is of course, first and foremost in human culture, a gem source. Specimens like this, of perfect clarity, brightness, and purity, have almost always been cut until modern times and the emergence of the mineral collecting market helped make an economy where they could be valued as specimens, more than as facet and cutting rough. Thankfully for us! This is a classic "gem pencil" and specimens like this were particularly common from Pakistan production in the late 1990s, not so much now. This is one of a group of such gems, purchased by Gene Meieran in the early days to protect them from the cutting market. It is 33 grams plus of absolute blue glass!
