Item Description
An unusual somewhat "stacked" group of prismatic semi-parallel growth crystals of Beryl showing an odd bluish-green hue from an unknown locality in San Diego County. The crystals are sharp and lustrous, but not really terminated. It's more of a reference specimen, but it's also an interesting and different kind of Beryl that is seldom seen on the market. I can't call the piece Aquamarine because it has too much of a green coloring. Hard to photograph, but certainly attractive in person, and if you collect gem pegmatite crystals, minerals of San Diego County, or worldwide Beryls, don't miss out on this one. Ex Kay Robertson Collection (#3609). Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record and the 50+ page article in the German Magazine "Mineralien Welt" November-December 2017).
