Item Description
This piece came labeled as coming from a place called Schoenfichte near Tirschenreuth, but I can't find any listing for this locality, so I believe it's possibly from the Johannes Mine in Bavaria. The label also refers to the crystal as being doubly-terminated, but I don't think it's true. It is a notably sharp, and rather lustrous crystal of Beryl with a soft bluish color. Now one basal termination is incredibly smooth and glassy and clearly terminated, while the other end has as somewhat stepped appearance, but I don't think it's terminated. It's still a GREAT example of this very hard to find material from Germany! Ex Kay Robertson Collection (#xxx ). Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record and the 50+ page article in the German Magazine "Mineralien Velt" November-December 2017). Valued at $1100.
